During my 15 years in counseling and helping professions I have seen people face their fears, experience growth, and find self-worth and purpose. By changing our thinking or outlook slightly new directions and possibilities are opened. My practice is dedicated to helping you find a new perspective. I have been working in the counseling and helping professions since 2000. I received a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University at the California School of Professional Psychology. My studies focused on Family Systems Theory as well as various therapeutic approaches, lifecycle development, and addiction studies. Additionally I have over 19 years of personal recovery from alcohol and substance abuse.
I hold the following professional licenses and certifications:
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
•Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC II)
•Trained & Qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP)
•Employee Assistance Specialist (EAS-C)
•Clinical Supervision for LPC licensure
Therapeutic Techniques
Solution-focused Therapy targets what works rather than what’s wrong. It is based on a non-pathology model emphasizing your strengths and resources to help you to reach goals and resolve problems rapidly.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy states our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not external things, like people, situations, and events. Working together, we can change the way you think, feel, and act even if the situation does not change.
Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy states that whenever we become upset, it is not the events taking place in our lives that upset us but the beliefs that we hold that cause us to become depressed, anxious, stressed, & enraged Change your point of view slightly and you can change your life.
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy examines how partners construct their relational emotional experience by targeting how they engage and communicate with one another.
